NTF crisis: No going back on Ashiru’s impeachment – Binga

New President of Nigeria Taekwondo Federation, Mrs. Margaret Elizabeth Binga has said that no amount of pressure will make the board members rescind its decision to impeach the erstwhile President of the Federation, George Ashiru.
Reacting to a statement accredited to the former President that he is awaiting directives from the National Sports Commission on the purported impeachment, she noted that due process was followed in the exercise and that the sports commission has being fully notified about the new change of guard even as she stated that she does not think the NSC will do anything in the contrary.
“His impeachment followed due process because out of a total of nine board members, six voted that he should be removed from office. I believe that the NSC being the body saddled with the responsibility of supervising all the sporting federations are the ones that drew up guidelines on how to be elected and impeached as a board member and this process was carried out to the later”, she stated.
Binga while advising Nigerians and taekwondo practitioners to ignore Ashiru, noted that her duty is how to reposition the sport and make it regain its Grade 1 position which it lost during the tenure of the former president.
It would be recalled that six out of the nine board members of Nigeria Taekwondo Federation during the just concluded Korea Ambassador’s West African Taekwondo Championship voted for the impeachment.
