The newly appointed Chairman of Odu’a Investment Company Limited Board. Engineer Olusola Akinwumi has disclosed that there will be no going back in the on going transformation and repositioning of the conglomerate.
According to a release signed by the Company’s Head of Corporate Affairs, Mr Victor Ayetoro made available to newsmen in Ibadan, Engineer Akinwumi said this while speaking at a consultative meeting he held with Past Group Managing Directors/ CEOs of the Company held at the Company’s Group Headquarters, Cocoa House, Ibadan
The Odu’a Investment Chairman pointed out that the meeting was aimed at providing to opportunity to bridge the wide gap between the old and new Managers of the conglomerate to ensure proper repositioning of the entire Odu’a Group as the engine room for economic development of Western Nigeria.
Speaking during the meeting, the ex – GMDs and Odu’a Board pledged their total support and commitment to the progress and sustainability of the Odu’a group and that they are all ready to work as a team and in the overall interest and growth of the Yoruba Heritage in order to move the Company to its enviable height.
The release signed by the Company’s Head of Corporate Affairs, Mr Victor Ayetoro steessed further that the consultative meeting provided a platform for robust discourse among the Past GMD/CEOs and the current Board of Directors on issues ranging from continuous growth of the Company’s portfolio, diversification, increase in revenue sources and the need to leverage on its arable farmland for integrated agricultural value chain businesses.
Mr Ayetoro stated that other issues discussed at the consultative meeting were on Power, integrated transport, oversight functions at Subsidiary, governance, discipline among staff and unity of purpose between the Management and the Board. Emphasis were placed on the need for Human Capital Development as well as Sustainability to match up with competitiveness in the business environment.
He added that forum of Ex-GMD/CEO was thereafter constituted to render advisory services to the Board as need arises based on terms of reference to be agreed upon.
The consultative meeting was attended by the current board members of Odu’a and Past GMD/CEOs led by Chief F. O. Mogaji who was at the helms of affairs from 1979 – 1983, Chief Olufemi Adewumi, 1990 – 1993, Sir Remi Omotoso,1998 – 2004 and Dr Adebayo Jimoh, 2005 – 2014
