NNDC contributes to Nigeria’s economic development – GMD

Over the years, the New Nigeria Development Company (NNDC) has contributed towards the economic development of Nigeria, said the company’s Group Managing Director. Dr. Ahmed Musa Mohammed.
Dr. Ahmed said this through the company’s Executive Director. Alhaji Abdullahi Ali Gombe when the executives of Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) Kaduna State council paid him a courtesy call.
“When the new management of NNDC came on board, we have been mandated
by owners of NNDC; that is the 19 Northern State Governors to develop a five year strategic plan, with a view to turning around NNDC fortune from none profit to profit making, and in the last two years we have been trying to do that.
“We identified some of our assets in terms of landed property and we did alot of turn around to make sure they are in good position to give us good return in investment” the GMD explained.
“I think with the able supports of the management and the entire staff of NNDC staff, we have been on course and we hope to achieve the hundred per cent mandate given to us.” The GMD added.
Dr. Ahmed explained that NNDC has a role to play in terms of contributing to
the sustainable development of Nigeria, adding that, “presently we are into so many areas, our activities cut across various sectors of the Nigerian economy”.
He pointed out that NNDC is a development finance institution and every Northerner is a stakeholder, “infact every Nigerian is a stakeholder because not only Northerners there could be other Nigerians who are doing business with NNDC as stakeholder”.
Commenting on the NUJ exco visit, Dr. Ahmed said, “I believe going by the relationship that exist between us and you, it must not be only maintained but move forward, reiterating that “you are a very important organ not only for small institution
like NNDC, but even the larger institutions in the activities of the nation.”
Earlier in his remarks, the NUJ Kaduna council Chairman Comrade Garba
Muhammed commended the management transformation programs as well as
in its area of capacity building program for the people in the northern part of the country.
He said the development projects embarked upon by NNDC also deserved
commendation and he called on the NNDC to assist NUJ Kaduna council to
complete its Zonal office project inside the NUJ secretariat and assured the management of the media supports in its activities.
