Despite the efforts of Kano State Hisbah Board towards sanitizing every aspects of livelihood according to the Islamic teachings, night hawking by teenage girls is increasing everyday where both matured and teenage girls troop in groups into the city of Kano selling different kind of items from rural areas.
Our correspodent who had an investigation on the night hawking by teenagers reports that the girls usually hail from the neighbouring local government areas that are closer to the city of Kano such as Madobi, Kura, Gezawa, Dawakin Tofa, Ungogo, Kumbotso and some parts of Dawakin Kudu Local Government Area.
Furthermore, most of the items that are being sold by the girls are cooked cassava, fried ground nut, potatoes, vegetables of different types and other recipes that are processed locally, where they roam from one place or market to the other looking for customers.
Similarly, some girls possess mobile telephones and can be seen talking to some persons at different locations, while some of them group and watch films when they are less busy in marketing from their phones as seen in some various places where they usually rest.
Amina Lawal from Madobi Local Government Area, said that “we normally come into the city around 10-11 am selling our goods but we stay till night because most of the times we don’t have the vehicles that convey us to our destinations although some of the drivers have girl friends among us,” she disclosed.
In addition, Fati Adamu from Malamawa stated that some of her colleagues stay in the city because they make good marketing at night and most of them have boy friends that carry them either on motorcycles or motor vehicles any time to their homes.
Investigation carried out by our correspondent shows that some of the girls stay at Isyaku Rabiu to filin parking while some of them stay at Sabon titi while some others, stay at Bata to Yankura areas.
Most of the people who spoke to New Nigerian advised the Kano State Government to take urgent action about this matter, and called on Hisbah board to start sanitising this disturbing issue.
