The Senior Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on National Assembly matters (Senate), Sen. Ita Enang has described the Nigerian youths as the greatest resources the country has than oil.
Sen. Enang who stated this during the official commissioning of the secretariat complex of the National Committee of Buhari Support Groups (NCBSG) in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom state capital today, assured the youths that President Buhari would give them opportunities they require to maximise their talents
According to Sen. Enang, President Buhari honours and treasures Nigerian youths because they constitute human resources the country need to move forward.
His words, “I bring you goodwill from His Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari and I want to say that the greatest resource we have is not oil. The greatest wealth of this nation is the youths, our human resources.
“President Buhari honours and treasures the youths of this country; he welcomes the youths to participate in the administration of Nigeria. I reassure you that the President respects you, the youths and will offer you all the opportunities to maximise your potentials.
“You need to appreciate the President because we are now in charge but you must ensure that Buhari wins for second term. As of today, we are doing everything to ensure that the All Progressive Congress, (APC), wins all the seats in the State Houses of Assembly, all the seats in the House of Representatives and Senate. And we will win Akwa Ibom Governorship seat. We will make sure that Buhari returns as president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in 2019.”
Earlier in his speech, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, NCBSG, Senator Abu Ibrahim said the inauguration of Buhari’s office in Akwa Ibom and other states in the south south mark the beginning of activities aimed at ensuring national cohesion.
He expressed delight on the opening of the state office and commended APC supporters and stakeholders in the state for coming out in large numbers for the event.
“This event will not only lead to the re-election of President Buhari but would open a bridge and understanding between the state and other Nigerians. The South-South interest in national development is key to the success of this administration,” he said.
Also the State Coordinator of NCBSG, Mr. Ignatius Edet, said Buhari has worked tirelessly for almost three years to put the nation on the path of progress, noting that his achievements are evident of his efforts.
He said some of the efforts of the President include security, diversification of the nation’s source of revenue, fight against corruption, independence of the legislature and judiciary, encouragement of local content in production, protection of indigenous enterprises and businesses and the strengthening of institutions of government among others.
The former Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly added that Akwa Ibom State has been a major beneficiary of the administration of President Buhari in the school feeding programme, N-power scheme, the Niger Delta Development Commission and encouraged the people of the state to support the re-election of Buhari for a second term in office.
He said, “For nearly three years, the president has worked hard and relentlessly to put Nigeria firmly on the path of progress. And he has a lot of achievements to show for his hard work.
“Akwa Ibom in particular has been a major beneficiary of the Buhari administration, especially through the national Social Investment Programmes like the school feeding programme and the N-Power scheme. The Niger Delta Development Commission has been reinvigorated by the President and made to work wonders in the development of the state.
“It is on record that Akwa Ibom State has benefitted in terms of key federal appointments from the Buhari administration more than any other administrations ever. We in Akwa Ibom assure him of our unflinching support and commitment to ensure that he wins massively and convincingly in the state in 2019. With a functional office that will be inaugurated today, we are good to go.”
He said they were pleased that Buhari accepted the call to re-contest in 2019 and called on the support of the leadership of the party at the national level to ensure that the state is delivered in 2019.
