Governor Nasir Ahmad el-Rufai of Kaduna State on Monday has said that the Nigerian Military is doing its best to make sure there’s peace in the country.
The Governor said this during the 2018 Armed Forces Remembrance Day Celebrations held at Murtala Square, in Kaduna.
According to him, Nigerian Army has contributed significantly in creating unity and sacrifices to protect the integrity of our great country, particularly in Kaduna state.
He said that the amount of 1 billion Naira was drawn by the Governors in recognition of the armed forces contribution to the peace and security of the state.
He further urged them to work in unity for the progress of the state.
According to the Legion, the death as well as the living heroes have children and other dependants to cater for while some ex service men are well off, majority of them find it difficult to make ends meet.
This is a unique occasion for the government and the society to soberly reflect on the plight of the dead and the living heroes to resolve minimising, if not eliminating their sufferings.
The activities of the Armed Forces Remembrance Day serve to remained us all these sacrifices and the need to alleviate the sufferings of those who laid down their lives that we may live today.
The celebration is for both the living heroes including all those who suffered various deprivation as a result of wars.
