A leader  of the Southern Kaduna Peoples Union (SOKAPU), Comrade Samuel Tabara on Thursday alerted that Nigeria as a country  is still in  “extension of colonialism” going by the unfolding events in the country .

Comrade Tabara who raised the alarm in Ibadan while speaking at the Second Yoruba Farmers Summit held at the House of Chiefs, Oyo State Secretariat lamented the spate of attack on some Nigerians especially in the Southern Kaduna and Benue with the government of the day not doing enough to arrest the situation.

He stressed that it was unfortunate that the Fulani people in Nigeria are continuously portraying their selves as being above the laws of Nigeria considering recent developments in some parts of the country.

“The Southern Kaduna people and other Nigerians are forcefully losing their parcels of land and livelihood by every passing day, due to incessant attacks by invaders in the guise of herdsmen ( who are generally known to be of Hausa- Fulani ethnic origin). The threat of outright displacement /annihilation of the people and take over of their land is palpably imminent” he said.

Comrade. Tabara lamented that as at present in Nigeria, religion is a key factor in Nigeria politics while ethnicity is the next, saying, ” in my words, Nigeria is more of a political fraud  than a united country. “.

According to the SOKAPU leader, ” without a democratically evolved constitution, the threads of nationhood , the institutional mechanism of restraint begin to give way to individual or groups “

Speaking further, he stressed that ” the Hausa , Fulani quest for domination of power and economy by ethno religious means, land grabbing through herdsmen violence, insurgency and various forms of militancy pose a grave threat to whatever we stand for as a country and as a people”.

He however declared that ” there is the need to holistically review the existing Commands and Structures of all Governments Armed Forces, and Security agents to reflect Ethnic and Religious balances in their structure and their Commands leadership’.
