Perturbed by the uncertainty of the nation’s economy and other social vices that spring up on daily basis, traditional rulers under the aegis of Fellowship of Christian Traditional Rulers of Nigeria (FECTRON) have resorted to spiritual intervention by praying to God.
Issues raised and prayed over by the traditional rulers during the prayer summit which took place at  Umuahia South Local Government Headquarters (for traditional rulers in Abia Central Senatorial district) include; harsh economic situation ravaging states across the federation; inability of states to pay salaries to civil/public workers; ugly incidents of herdsmen; Boko Haram deadly activities; scarcity and hike in fuel pump price that generated hardship and the latest strike embarked upon by the labour union and kidnapping menace which is gradually creeping in.
Interacting with our correspondent shortly after the prayer meeting, the chairman, Fellowship of Christian Traditional Rulers of Nigeria, Abia State chapter, HRM Eze Godfrey C. Onwuka likened the situation which Nigeria is currently facing to that of the biblical Israelites who, when faced with similar situation ran to God for forgiveness, adding that FECTRON having critically observed what is happening in the country, decided to come together to ask God for forgiveness and turn the situation for better.
He lamented that those elected to power by the poor masses to champion their causes have dashed the hope of the common man by not doing that which they were elected for, rather they resort to looting public funds, thereby offending God, which resulted to the present difficulties the nation is facing.
Those in authority think God is not watching them. They should be reminded that God looks at those in authority. God is angry with what is happening across the nation. The anger of God is upon this nation, which is why evil is triumphing. God allowed these evil so that we will have a re-think and come back to Him” he asserted.
He reminded leaders that they can achieve nothing without help from God, advising that they should genuinely put their works and trust in God.
Eze Onwuka who is also the Chairman, Umuahia South Council of Traditional Rulers, expressed optimism that the present situation will certainly change if the leaders/Nigerians will turn from their ways.
The prayer summit according to Eze Onwuka will be replicated in the remaining districts of Abia North and South.
END.
