Nigeria College of Aviation Technology One Of World’s Best,  Sirika Says  As College Takes Delivery Of Diamond Aircraft DA42NG

The Nigeria College of Aviation Technology (NCAT), Zaria is one of the best in the world in terms of facility and man power, Minister of State for Aviation, Alhaji Hadi Sirika has said.
He stated this while fielding questions from newsmen after the college took delivery of one Diamond Aircraft DA42NG from Interjet Nigeria Limited on Monday in Zaria.
According to him, graduates of the college after their training, are well positioned to carry out their duties effectively.
The Minister explained that the classrooms where lectures are taken as a result of their digitized nature, further serve as an added advantage to the students.
In his remarks earlier before the official delivery of the aircraft, Rector of the college, Captain Mohammed Abdulsalam said that taking delivery of the new trainer aircraft would improve flight training.
“This new trainer aircraft would significantly improve our flight training experience. And from the angle of cost efficiency, our analysis shows that they will significantly reduce our operating cost, especially in the area of maintenance and fuelling. The are also equipped with glass cockpit and garmin 1000, which will make it easier for our graduating pilots to transit to new generation commercial aircraft,” he added.
The rector said that the college is acquiring a total of two of the aircrafts, five multi engine DA42 and15 single-engine D-40 trainers.
“Today we are taking delivery of the first DA 42 multi-engine aircraft,” he added.
He said that there are currently 29 trainer aircrafts in the college, used for ab-inito trainingTB9, TrinidadTB20GT and Beech Baron 58, which are old and the earliest purchases done15 years ago, which also are expensive to fuel and maintain.
Captain Abdulsalam while speaking further, informed that as a result of its excellent records, the NCAT was awarded the Global Aviation Training Achievement Award by ICAO in South Korea last year.
“We have again received the two awards in the categories of Highest Number of Training Instructor Course (TIC) conducted; and Highest Number of ICAO Courses Conducted at ICAO TRAINAIR Plus Symposium, held on 12th April 2017 at Adis Ababa, Ethiopia,” he emphasized.
