The Niger State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) scheme, Theresa Igbokun Arikoye has made passionate appeal to Niger State government to quickly expedite action on rehabilitation of the permanent orientation camp of the National Youths Service Corps in Paiko area of the state to ensure decent and befitting accommodation and facilities to youth corp members posted to the state.
The bad state of the camp ground at Paiko had forced the authorities at the camp to relocate 500 youths corps members posted to Niger for the 2017 Stream II Batch B orientation programme to Kaduna state for their mandatory one month orientation course.
The state Coordinator of the scheme, Theresa Igbokun Arikoye had during her visit to the Permanent Secretary in the state’s Ministry of Youth Development on Tuesday, pressed for prompt action.
The Permanent Secretary in the ministry,  Hussaini Yusuf acknowledged that the camp ground was indeed in a bad shape and expressed commitment of the state government to revamp the camp ground.
The Permanent Secretary disclosed that the permanent orientation camp at Paiko would soon give the camp a befitting face lift to guarantee the comfort of youth corps members posted to the state.
Hussaini Yusuf assured the state’s Coordinator of the scheme that the state government would do everything possible to put the camp in good condition for the comfort and well-being of Corp members posted to the state for their mandatory one year national service.
He reaffirmed the commitment of the state government to continue to explore ways to better the relationship between it and the NYSC scheme in the state.
He similarly assured that the state government would make available vehicles required to bring back the 500 youths corps members posted to the state who were redeployed to Kaduna state for their mandatory orientation course due to the bad state of the camp ground at Paiko.
Earlier, the state Coordinator of the scheme had sought the assistance of the state government to quickly fix the orientation camp ahead of the completion of the ongoing orientation course in Kaduna just as she asked the state government to provide vehicles for the return trip of the 500 youths corps members relocated to Kaduna at the start of the orientation course.
