Niger Govt Splashes N374m On Jeeps For Emirs

Niger State Government has said that it has released over N374 million for the purchase of eight new Prado Jeeps for the first class traditional rulers in the state.
The state government said the monarchs were due for new utility vehicles to assist them in their day to day cominglings and schedules.
Commissioner for Local Government, Community Development and Chieftaincy Affairs, Haliru Zakari Jikantoro said the gesture was to compliment the roles of the traditional rulers and show government’s appreciation to the royal fathers.
He explained that the state’s executive council gave the approval to give the traditional rulers deserved utility vehicles according to their status.
In another development, the state government has announced the commencement of public sales of fertilizers to members of the public ahead of the start of the rains this year.
The Commissioner of Agriculture, Haruna Nuhu Duku said the farm input is offered at a subsidised cost of N5,500 per bag.
He urged members of the public particularly farmers to approach sales points across the council areas of the state to purchase the fertilizers.
Duku said in a statement that the state government has sent the commodities to all fertilizer stores of all the twenty five local government areas of the state to ensure that the commodity is made available to farmers.
