New Year: Bindow Pardons 39 Adamawa Prisoners

Thirty nine (39) prisoners serving various jail terms in Adamawa State have regained their freedom in the spirit of the New Year.

Governor Muhammad Umar Jibrill Bindow, who pardoned the prisoners, acted on the power conferred on him by the prerogative, of mercy acting on the Advisory Committee of the Prerogative of Mercy headed by  Attorney  General  and Commissioner  of Justice Mr Silas Sanga.

This was contained in a statement issued by the Commissioner  for Information  and Strategy, Comrade Ahmad Sajoh.

According to the statement, 11 of the prisoners were from Yola prison, 9 from Jimeta prison, nine from Jada prison, seven from Numan prison and one convict from Ganye prison.

Bindow also commuted the death sentences of two prisoners to life imprisonment. 

The statement added that all necessary steps, have been taken by the prison authorities  on the warrant singed by his Excellency to ensure compliance with the rerogative  of mercy pronouncement

While felicitating with the entire citizens of the state on the occasion of the New Year, Bindow urged them to ensure they obtained their voters cards against the 2019 elections.
