Newly elected Secretary Nigeria Association of Women Journalists ( NAWOJ) Kaduna State chapter, Mrs. Maureen Sheyin has pledged to bring new innovations, positive and workable ideas that will take the association to the desirable heights during her tenure.
She made this declaration after elected secretary at the election of members of NAWOJ held at the state secretariat of the Nigeria Union of Journalists ( NUJ), Waff road, Kaduna.
According to her, she joined the race because she believes she’s capable of bringing the desired change and innovations required to make the Kaduna council the cynosure of other state councils. Promising to work with other members, she charged her them to work as a team for the greater betterment of the union.
“The NUJ our umbrella body has created the enabling environment for us as NAWOJIANS to emulate and even surpass and I believe as part of this executive working together as a team, our success will be profound.”
On her part, elected Treasurer of NAWOJ, Miss. Helen Kafoi, said since the new executives are made up of young and vibrant women, there’s going to be serious transformation within the association while working the experienced outgoing executive in ensuring that the ideals of the union are strictly adhered with.
“We are bent on working with the old exco in order to channel a synergy that will take this great union forward, which means continuing with the legacies of the old exco, by making sure the ethics of our great profession are adhered to,” she added.
Kaduna NAWOJiANS, it would be recalled, had their elections on Tuesday, December, 5, 2018 to elect new executive to run their affairs for the next three years. Among those elected are; Salamatu Abubakar, auditor; Zainab Ibrahim Sodangi, financial secretary; Amino Anebi Samuel, assistant secretary; Sahura Jubrin Maidoki, vice chairperson; Fatima Aliyu, Chairperson.
