NECO Releases Results Of Nov/Dec 2017 SSCE

The National Examinations Council, NECO, has announced release of the results of the external examinations it conducted between November to December last year, (2017), the Senior School Certificate Examinations, (SSCE).
Detailed results as disclosed by the Registrar/Chief Executive of the NECO, Professor Charles B. Uwakwe indicates that out of the 42,429 candidates who sat for the examinations, 32,917 candidates, representing 77.58 percent scored 5 credits and above in various subjects.
Uwakwe told journalists at the council’s headquarters in Minna on Tuesday that the council had concluded it’s vetting of the results barely 38 days after the conduct of the examinations.
While giving details of the candidates’ general performances, the NECO’s Chief Executive disclosed that candidates from Ogun state had the best results when compared with other states as 4,766 candidates out of the 5,213 who sat for the examinations scored a minimum of 5 credits and above in all subjects representing 91.42%.
He disclosed that Zamfara state which came behind in the previous examination organized by the council, had again recorded the worst result in the recently concluded examinations as only 24 out of the 186 candidates from the state scored 5 credits and above in subjects they registered.
This abysmal performance according to Prof Uwakwe represents just 12.90%.
Professor Uwakwe disclosed that a total of 42,985 candidates had registered for the 2017 November/December examinations out of which 42,429 actually sat for the examinations.
He revealed also that a total number of 24,098 candidates scored five credits in all subjects including Mathematics and English Language which represents 56.79%
He explained further more that of the total number of 41,429 candidates who sat for English language subject, 29, 258 scored credit pass representing 70.62%, while out of the 41,485 that sat for Mathematics, a total 32,701 candidates got credit pass representing 78.82%.
The Registrar said that 4,425 candidates representing 10.43% were involved in examination malpractices in the just concluded examinations. This figure according to him represents 5.9% reduction in cases of malpractices compared with the figures of 2016.
Candidates from Plateau state recorded the highest reported cases of malpractices with 943 candidates nabbed representing 21.31%.
Cases of malpractices were recorded in Mathematics subject which had the highest case with 728 candidates involved.
Professor Uwakwe also advised candidates who sat for the examination to access their results on NECO’s website www.mynecoexam.com, using their Examination Registration Number (ERN) and scratch cards.
