The Adamawa State command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), has seized 2,742,358 Kg of assorted illicit drugs.
State commandant of the Agency, Mr.Yakubu Kibo who made the disclosure at a press conference in Yola on Tuesday, maintained that his command in the last six months has also arrested 77 suspects, out of which 26 were convicted and sentenced to various jail terms.
According to him, seizure comprises ; tramadol tablet/capsules, canabis, cough syrup and pentazocine injection among others
Kibo noted that the command has recently uncovered new tactics of using paw paw leaves, 10 days fermented human urine, tom tom in lacasera drink,as some of the substances of abuse by youths in state.
He therefore charged parents to join hands in the war against drug abuse and also monitor the company their children and wards keep
The command also, established drug abuse and illicit trafficking awareness clubs in schools to further strengthen awareness among students, he added.
Kibo also solicited the support of government and wealthy individual in the state to come support the command to carryout its activities.
According to him, the agency in the state is facing challenges of inadequate operational vehicles which is affecting their optimum operation.
