The Adamawa State Government has inaugurated a six-member committee in line with the Federal Government’s directive on the National Livestock Transformation plan.
Inaugurating the committee, Deputy Governor, Chief Crowther Seth charged them to exhibit a high sense of diligence in the discharge of their responsibilities for the overall interest of Adamawa people.
Seth pointed out to the committee members that they are to work with his office and also in liaison with the office of the Adviser on Agricultural Intervention Coordination office of the Vice President of Nigeria.
The six members include Professor Alikidon Voh, Dr Gideon Mshelbwala, Alh Usman Michika, Suleiman Aliyu Umar and Sajo S Zakaria.
Responding on behalf of the committee, Professor Alikidon Voh said the programme is expected to achieve the enhancement of peace and harmony and to help curb farmers/herders clashes through a Livestock transformation plan.
He said the programme if successfully implemented will support and straighten the development of market driven ranches to improve livestock productivity through breed improvement and pasture production.
The programme hopes to find a lasting solution to the thorny issue of the farmers/herders clash that is troubling the country.
