Senate Committee on Aviation has pledged to support Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT) Zaria in competing with global training institutions.
Vice Chairman of the committee Senator Bala Ibn Na’Allah who led the committee on oversight visit to NCAT Thursday stressed the need for the college to think on how to fast track the college to compete favourably with world class aviation training schools.
He said time has passed for such a college to be awarding only Diploma and certificate, but rather, NCAT should have since started degree awarding.
On the issues of ongoing projects in the college, Senator Na’Allah said there are contractors who abandoned their projects without any reason and they should return to the sight or else they will be in court of law.
Senator Bn Na’Allah called on the management staff to put heads together with the Rector and come up with developmental programmes that will promote the college.
Earlier in his presentation, the Rector of the College, Captain Abdussalam Mohammed said the challenges facing the college is non release of funds and high coast of Gasoline as well as shortage of instructors.
Capt. Mohammed said he has started working towards bringing some new ideas on how NCAT can be transformed into world class training schools.
