NAPRI To Train People With Disability On Animal Production – Director

The National Animal Production and Research Institute Shika, Zaria is to train people with disability on animal productions in collaboration with the office of the senior special adviser to pryesident Muhammadu Buhari on disability.

Director of the institute, Professor Clarence Ayodele Lakpini disclosed this in an interview with newsmen,  Wednesday in his office on the institute’s success and challenges.

He said, arrangements have been concluded, they are waiting for the funds from the office of Mr. President to commence the training.

According to him, the training will accord the beneficiaries the opportunity to learn various aspects of animals production to be self reliant.

Prof. Lakpini who described the unpatronizing of their activities by Nigerians as a disturbing matter and called for a change and to start patronizing Nigerians goods and materials like NAPRI Shika Brown Chickens.

He said, by patronizing them, it will improve their capacity of internal revenue generation that will make the institute stand on its feet properly.

The Director also said, the institute will create a commercial unit that will take care of all collaboration, consultancy among others with the government or private sectors.

Speaking on the dairy farm, Prof. Lakpini said, they were working towards modernizing their dairy by purchasing new machines as against the use of manual system.

He said, with the optimal and most economic crossbreed diet, that with 25% whole cotton seed inclusive, level will increase in body weight gain in the performance of Bunaji heifers.

Professor Clarence Lapkini also said, lactation length, total milk yield Bunaji cows can be increased by feeding diets with up to 75% whole cotton seed and increase in net income.
