Murtala Foundation reassures Chibok community of support, to rebuild destroyed school

The Murtala Mohammed Foundation (MMF), has assured Chibok community of its commitment to work with government in facilitating the rebuilding of the destroyed Government Girls Secondary School, Chibok.
The Chief Executive Officer of the foundation, Aisha Muhammed-Oyebode made this known in Chibok while addressing parents of Chibok girls at a function organized by the foundation in preparation for the second anniversary of Chibok Girls abduction by Boko Haram.
“Rebuilding this school will be a symbol that your community remains resilient in the face of this adversity, we have to bring back our girls and we have to bring back our schools,” Muhammed-Oyebode said.
She observed that with the gradual return to normalcy, it was important that the younger ones resume school as soon as possible.
According to her, the foundation was concern about the plight of people and was working in collaboration with the Ministry of Women Affairs to mark the 2nd anniversary of the kidnapped girls on Thursday in Chibok.
In his remarks, Chairman of the Chibok Community, Mr Yakubu Nkeki, lauded the association and all Nigrians for the show of solidarity to the people of Chibok.
Nkeki also lauded government for enhanced security in Chibok and other parts of North East in general, adding that it was a relief to them that Chibok was never allowed to be occupied by the insurgents.
“Despite what happened to us, we are grateful to the government because our community was never occupied by Boko Haram,” Nkeki said.
He noted that the comming of government officials to Chibok on Thursday for the 2nd anniversary was a welcome development that would provide the community the opportunity to interact with them on issues.
The event which took place at the Government Girls Secondary School, Chibok, was symbolic as it was the first time the parents of the abducted girls and other members of the community entered the premises of the school since it was place out of bound by security operatives about a year ago.
It will be recall that Chibok girls were kidnapped by insurgent on the April 14, 2014.
