A mother of two arrested and paraded by the Police in Lagos on Friday has cried out over her alleged illegal arrest and manhandling by the security operatives.
The single parent who identified herself as Ola Adidas, resident of Igboolumo estate in Ikorodu area of Lagos claimed that she just left her room to buy Indormie food for her children on Thursday evening at about 10.25pm and was arrested on her way back home by the policemen.
An hairdresser by profession, the victim said, “When I returned home from my hairdressing saloon, I was too tired to cook food for my children and decided to go out and buy cooked Indormie.
It was on my way back home when Policemen from Owutu Police station stopped me and asked me to enter their vehicle. When I tried to explain to them, they started beating me”.
Further she alleged, ” Despite my explanation to them that my 14 year old boy and nine year old girl were at home waiting for me to bring their food, they started rough handling me.
“They started folding my breasts and bottom. I tried to resist their actions but they are too much for me to handle. So, I was forced to retire for my fate and allowed them to continue their devil actions “, he added.
The 26 year old lady also said, “They later took myself and other people arrested from different parts of the state to Taskforce office at Bolade-Oshodi and the Police state headquarter “.
“It was surprising now to hear the Commissioner of Police telling the Press that we have special case and to my understanding, he was alleging us to be prostitutes without getting our own sides of the story. But I know God will vindicate us”, she remarked.
The victim and other ladies were among the 319 suspects arrested during a massive raid of black spots and other areas suspected to be hideout of criminals.
Speaking earlier while parading the suspects, the Commissioner of Police Edgal Imohimi said all the suspects will be profiled and those found culpable will be prosecuted.
Describing the raid exercise as purposeful and intelligence based, the police commissioner asserted that the exercise is continuous.
His words,” The raids will continue, they are purposeful and intelligence base. We will not allow any ungoverned or unpoliced area in the state as the activities of politicking get under way”.
