More members of the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP), in Ondo state, had pitched their tent with the All Progressives Congress (APC) in preparation towards the November 26, 2016 Governorship election.
The APC Chairman in the state, Barr. Isaac Kekemeke while receiving the decampee in Akure said, the party is a people-centered one aimed at developing the land and the people as every of the party’s activities whose actions are focused on improving and uplifting the lots of the citizenry.
The group which is made up of over 350 members of “like minds” was led by a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ondo State, Comrade Ibironke Lawrence into APC.
Kekemeke also noted that the party is mostly concerned on how the people would not go hungry and the teeming Youths will be gainfully employed by contributing their quota to the growth and development of then nation.
The spade of developments, he said, could be noticed in other South West states like Ogun and Osun states which are not as rich as Ondo State but are doing pretty well in infrastructural development and Social Welfare schemes by feeding school children in their respective states.
In his speech, Comrade Ibironke saluted the courage of President Mohammadu Buhari for his fight against corruption, he said the President’s zero tolerance for corruption is the precursor to restoring the nation’s lost glory.
According to him, part of the reasons they left the PDP, Ibironke Lawrence said, “was that PDP is a party that enforces its members to amass wealth without working, enjoys pleasure without conscience and most regrettably practises politics without principle.
All these factors he said had contributed to the precarious situation the nation founds itself. He therefore called on all patriotic Nigerians to support President Buhari in his fight against corruption to a zero level in the country.
After their declaration for the APC, he urged APC to give his members sense of belonging and recognition being new members in the fold of the APC Ondo State Chapter.
Kekemeke however assured these new members of “like minds” from Akure South Local Government that they are not late in coming to APC and urged them to put in their best into the party as overtaking old members is permissible in party politics.  He said members will be rewarded according to their deeds and contributions to the development of the party, not how long they have been a docile member.
