Minister of information assures of a rebirth of a new Nigeria

The Minister of information and culture, Mr. Lai Mohammed, has reiterated that the change agenda of the All Progressive Congress, APC, coordinated by President Muhammad Buhari does not plan to inflict pain on Nigerians but the emergence of the change mantra designed to remove the pain Nigerians were subjected to by corruption.
“This exposure and undoing the lies of the past and the process of laying the new foundation which repositions Nigerians to re-awake the dying values our fore-fathers brought us up with is what the architects of these lies call ‘pain’ and are persuading weak minds of their likes to sing their song of “pain and hardship.
“This administration cannot, and will not be derailed by such cheap and weak propaganda. We can trust our President on tnat,” the minister noted.
Speaking through an Assistant Director in the ministry of information, Malam Hamza Audu, during the launch of a programme, “Advocacy against corruption At The Grassroots” organized by the Kaduna State Council of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in collaboration with Youth Development and Moral Rebirth in Kaduna weekend, the Minister said that the President had the task of exposing and undoing these lies as a first step to the rebuilding of Nigeria on the platform of truth and progress.
He commended the NUJ, Kaduna and its collaborating partner, youth development and moral rebirth for coming out to elaborately display support for President Buhari’s administration.
In your grassroots advocacy, he explained, “Campaign against corruption, it is essential to encourage Nigerians to own the fight considering that every Nigerian has been affected in one way or the other by the activities of corruption.
“Politicians must unite to confront Nigeria’s number-one enemy since overcoming it is the platform for a lasting democracy.
“Government will continue to appreciate and collaborate with all stakeholders like the NUJ and the youth development and moral rebirth to ensure that corruption is completely eradicated in the country.”
In his presentation, veteran journalists and former Managing Director of New Nigerian Newspapers, Mallam Muhammed Haruna advised that there was the need for moral re-orientation and self re-examination on the parts of citizens.
Haruna said the problem with Nigeria is not absence of laws but its execution.
In his contribution, Barrister Festus Okoye said there was the urgent need in the country for those fighting corruption to be well trained and understood the modern economy, local and international.
He stressed the need for corruption to be fought within the ambit of the law, adding that there was the need for the training of judges handling such cases while cautioning that issues affecting corruption should be handed with all honesty and transparency in the country.
Earlier, the chairman, Kaduna State chapter of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Comrade Garba Mohammed, noted that corruption cannot be fought from the top alone but must be confronted from the grassroots by fighting it as they encounter in their daily lives.
Also in his remarks, the Chairman of the Youth group, Ustaz Abdulwasiu Adebayo identified various forms of corruption such as political, economical, social, religious among others. He assured of the continues collaboration with various bodies to nip corrupt practices in the bud.
