The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP ) governorship candidate in Oyo State, Engineer Seyi Makinde on Monday said the party is ready for any collaboration, alignment or merger that will bring out the best and in the interest of the people of Oyo State.
Also, the PDP governorship candidate vowed that the party will reclaim “its stolen mandate” during last Saturday’s Presidential and National Assembly elections.
Addressing a press conference at his Omituntun House campaign office in Ibadan, Engineer Makinde commended the people of Oyo State for showing support for the PDP with their votes during the last Saturday elections.
He stressed that the the victory and defeat of Governor Abiola Ajimobi in the Oyo South Senatorial District “is a sign that the people of the state, despite their poverty are tired of been taken for granted and intimidated with “naked use of executive power.”
Emphasizing that “ever again will anybody rule the state without the mandate of the majority of the people.”,the PDP governorship candidate stressed that he will welcome any collaboration, alignment or merger that will bring out the best and in the interest of the people of Oyo state, saying. at the forthcoming governorship election, APC will “On March 9, will even be more desperate and attempt to bare their fangs but they will fail even more woefully because once the constituted authority is out of the way, what can the godson do?
Speaking on the result of the last Saturday elections, he disclosed that PDP has rejected the result of the Oyo Central Senatorial District election and will challenge the outcome its outcome
“For the avoidance of doubt, we will pursue forcefully within the ambit of the law, our mandate in Oyo Central Senatorial District where there was a clear case of miscarriage of justice and the senatorial seat was shamefully given to someone else.
Ditto for Ibarapa North and Central Federal Constituency where our candidate won the election fair and square only for it to be declared inconclusive. A remedy is surely on the way.”
He added, “and I can assure you that we shall use all legitimate and legal means to claim Ibadan North Constituency where we also won majority of the votes but were denied for reasons that could not stand Democratic ideals and process.”
“We are studying other cases of electoral malfeasance and anywhere that we identify one, we will move in, confident that justice will prevail over political arrogance and desperation.”
Engineer Makinde while thanking the people of Oyo State for their bravery during the last Saturday elections charged them to demonstrate same gesture during gubernatorial and the state House of Assembly elections on March 9.
