Man, 80 fakes own abduction to extort money from cousin

An 80 year old man, Abdullahi Duguri is cooling his heels at the Township Police Station in Bauchi after faking his abduction to extort money from his wealthy cousin by demanding for the sum of N30million
Abdullahi Duguri, who hails from Bakaro ward in Bauchi metropolis, connived with his son, 24 year old Mohammed Bashir and one of Bashir’s friends, Musa Ibrahim now at large, to “abduct” him to an unknown destination so as to demand for the sum of 30 million Naira, before he would be released.
The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Haruna Mohammed who confirmed the incident said that the abduction was reported by the victim’s grandson, adding that both parties of the fake abduction are now in Police custody.
He said, “On the 15/5/2016 at about 10:00hrs one Abubakar Mohammed male and 30 years of Kofar Idi, Bauchi, reported at Township Police Station that his grandfather one Abdullahi Duguri male and 80 years of Bakaro ward, Bauchi, was abducted by unknown persons who demanded for thirty million naira ransom before his release.
He explained that “discreet investigation by Police detectives revealed that the victim conspired with his son one Mohammed Bashir male and 24 years of the same address and his friend Musa Ibrahim now at large to fake the abduction of their father with his consent and took him to a hidden place in Kirfi town in order to attract sympathy from his wealthy cousin with a view to extorting money from him.
Both the victim who faked his abduction and his son were arrested and have confessed, the Police spokesman said, adding that the case is under investigations
