Sen Aisha Alhassan, the immediate past Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development has dumped the All Progressives Congress (APC) and purchased nomination form for governorship under the platform of the United Democratic Party (UDP).
Reports say that Alhassan had earlier on Saturday, resigned her appointment as Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development as well as membership of the APC.
Alhassan at a press conference shortly after joining and purchasing the nomination form from the new party, said APC had beome the weakest political party in Taraba with her defection.
She explained that she left the party with all executives from ward, local Government and State levels with numerous supporters including aspirants of various offices.
The former minister alleged that it was not the Governorship Screening Committee that disqualified her but the National Chairman of the Party, Mr Adams Oshomhole.
“I am now a member of UDP and I have purchased nomination form for governorship of the state under the party’s platform.
“Oshomhole has decided to do his worst but he doesn’t give power, it is God that gives power, so let him wait and see what will happen at the end of the day,” she said.
Alhassan advised her former boss, President Muhammadu Buhari to call Oshomhole to order, otherwise the Chairman would totally kill APC with his activities.
The governorship screening committee of the APC had on Thursday disqualified Alhassan leaving 10 other aspirants for Sunday’s primaries.
