As a precautionary measure to stop mosquito bites which lead to malaria, pregnant women and other users have been advised to treat their insecticide treated nets every six months to renew its efficacy.

Speaking further, she also urged mosquito net users to watch out fr holes in the net and stitch them.

The Safe Motherhood Coordinator, speaking in line with at the sub theme: ‘End Malaria in Pregnant Women’ warned that they should avoid self medication.

“Always go to health facilities for confirmation through tests. In the PHCs, malaria test is free. Do not engage in self medication,” she warned.

She explained that contrary to what many people believe, fever is a sign of many disease conditions and not just for malaria.

She stresses that when pregnant women take preventive measures, they will be malaria free.

She challenged media practitioners to help in the elimination of malaria in pregnant women by creating awareness on its dangers and how it can be prevented.
