The maiden edition of the Mobile Money Operators/Agency Banking Fair which was declared opened at the Gamji Gate in Kaduna on Wednesday has been described as a timely intervention, which would in the nearest future, save the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) huge resources expended on printing Naira notes.
Acting Controller CBN Kaduna Branch, Alhaji Garba Abdulrahman expressed this while declaring the fair open.
According to him, when mobile money transactions gain grounds in Nigeria, the pressure on the paper currency will ease.
“It would be very beneficial to our economy in several ways. We would stop spending huge amounts of money on printing notes, and it would generally boost the economy,” he added.
Alhaji Abdulrahman said that in view of that and several other factors, the CBN is throwing its full weight behind the Association of Mobile Money Operators of Nigeria (AMMON) and believing their intervention will bring a lot of good testimonies.
He advised Nigerians to embrace Mobile Banking, stressing that it is the predictable future of buying, selling and other transactions.
