The refusal of the Senate to confirm the Acting Chairman of the Economic and Crime commission EFCC for the second time has been described as a blow to the ongoing crusade by the federal Government to fight Corruption headlong.
A cross section of Nigerians in Jos Plateau State who spoke to New Nigerian Newspapers NNN in a vox pop carried out to ascertain how they feel said the development is unfortunate and doesn’t mean well for the current war against corrupt public office holders in the country.
According to them, “ the senate decision doesn’t come to them as a surprise because of the calibe of the personality at the senate“.
They contended that the decision by the senate is expected considering the fact that majority of them “are those who have case to answer before the EFCC“
According to them, this is the time that well meaning people in the country to raise up against such politicians in the senate whose majority are those having case within and outside the country“.
One of such Nigerians who strongly condemned the senate is Alhaji Sadiq Massalla a Jos based politician.
He decried what he called “unpopular decision by the senators“ whom he accused only protecting their selfish interest “but not the wishes of their various constituencies”.
He said any move by the National Assembly to amend the provision of the constitution on the appointment of public office holders should be resisted for the general interest of the country “as against the selfish interest of few“.
