LG Salaries; Adamawa Assembly approves N3.5 million loan

The Adamawa state House of Assembly has approved a request to obtain loan of N3.5 Billion to the Executive for the purpose of settling Local Government workers outstanding salaries.
This development was made public at a sitting through a letter of request for the loan, from the office of the state Governor
Muhammadu Umaru Jibrila which was read on the floor of the Assembly.
In the letter read by the Speaker, Alhaji Kabiru Mijinyawa, Governor Jibrilla sought for the House consideration and approval to source for N3.5 billion loan from Fidelity Bank “to augment shortfalls in salaries of Local Government Councils in the state.”
After a brief debate, the House Majority Leader, Alhaji Mahmud Musa moved motion for the approval and was seconded by Alhaji Abubakar Abdulrahman  Mubi South.
The Speaker also announced a minor change in the House Leadership where the Chief Whip, Mr Hassan Barguma and Deputy Chief Whip, Mr Abubakar Isa were removed.
