As the local government elections kicked off three hours after the arrival of the election materials in Narayi ward area of Chikun Local Government Area, two extra electronic voting machines were discovered.
After distributing the electronic machines and other materials to the 18 polling units in the ward, the two extra electronic machines which carried the name Doka were said to have been mistakenly carried alongside the actual machines allocated to the ward according to the Kaduna State Independent Electoral Commission (KADSIECOM) officer incharge of the ward.
The discovery was rather seen as an attempt by the present government to rig the election by some of the
party agents, especially PDP.
The attempt by the siecom officer to take the machines back to the office was stop by the parties agent who exhibit fear that it can be conered to a particular area to rig the election.
Against this back drop, the state government under the leadership of Governor Nasir el-Rufai was called upon to remove hands from the ongoing election and allow SIECOM to conduct a free and fair election.
The state government was also advised to allow the people’s votes to count in the ongoing election not to impose candidates on the people for their selfish interests.
The called was made by the former vice chairman Chikun LGA, the youth leader of the PDP Narayi ward, Mr. Ephraim Musa and Mr. Paul Katuka respectively at the Narayi collation centre.

kick start by 6am in the morning but rather started by 11 am in Narayi ward and 12 noon in others ward.
Also Alhaji Musa Yahaya who spoke on the conduct of the election, called on the government to always allow whatever that is meant for the electorates to get to them, noting that it is their right to elect who to represent them at the local government, state and even the federal
as such they should be allowed to vote for their choice and not to impose somebody on them as it attempts to do by the machine discovered in the ward.
According to him, the beauty of politics and democracy is when there is a free and fair election where the people votes count at such, the government should not tamper with the vote of the people of Kaduna State.
He however, called on people of Kaduna State to leave what they’re doing and come out to vote.
