The Eze Ndigbo of Ibadan and Oyo State, Dr Alex Anozie has  asked Nigerians to continue to pursue the unity and oneness of the country by living together in peace.

Dr Anozie stated this while speaking at this year’s Igbo Cultural Festival day held at the Obafemi Awolowo stadium (Liberty stadium), Oke Ado area of Ibadan.

The Eze Ndigbo emphasized that there is the need for every Nigerian to at all time feel at home where ever they may find themselves as it used to be in the years back.

“We should all live in peace and unity in this country. All Nigerians must feel at home across Nigeria. Igbo people must feel at home in the East, the Hausas must feel at home while in Igboland or here in Yorubaland. Likewise, the Youruba people must be feeling at home in every parts of the country. That is what we want in Nigeria. It has been like that before, and it will still come back to be so. All we need is to live in peace and unity”.   he said

The Ezendigbo Ibadan and Oyo State, Eze also charged  the Federal Government to as a matter of urgency “do everything in its purview to stop all the killings going on in the country.”

Dr Anozie who lauded the President Muhammodu Buhari led Federal Government on his effort to bring sanity back into the polity in Nigeria cautioned  that all these efforts might be in vain if Federal Government failed to stop the shedding the blood of innocent citizens across the country.

“We want to say well done to the Federal Government for the efforts they have put in place towards checkmating corruption in the country. We are glad to hear that work has commenced in earnest on the 2nd Niger bridge, and the Highways in the south east. We remember vividly that it was in one of our Igbo Cultural Days here in Oyo State that I first made the call to Federal Government to give Nigerians a 2nd Niger bridge, having seen the hell people go through on that only one bridge that links the south east with other parts of the country.”

The Eze Ndigbo added “we  are as well calling on the Federal Government to do everything possible to stop all the killings going on in the country, because those killings, wasting of human lives have continued to rubbish all the good efforts the Federal Government is making towards the up-liftment of Nigeria to a greater height”.

Speaking further, Dr Anozie urged  politicians in the country to stop playing  politics of bitterness, saying,  as they are all striving for the betterment of the country, they should all see themselves as one family irrespective of political party affiliation.

The Eze Ndigbo who lauded Governor Abiola Ajimobi and his team for the peace that reigned in the State since he took over the mantle of leadership in the State, congratulated the Olubadan of Ibadanland and Alaafin’s of Oyo, Oba Saliu Adetunji and Oba Lamidi Adeyemi respectively for the peaceful atmosphere that has been existing between all tribes residing in Oyo State.

“We congratulate Governor Ajimobi and his team for the peace that has been reigned in the State since he took over the mantle of leadership. We congratulate him and his administration for the developmental pace that has become faster during his administration. We congratulate all the Obas in the State more importantly the Olubadan of Ibadanland and the Alaafin of Oyo for the peaceful atmosphere that existed between all Nigerians resident in the State. If we do not appreciate this, it becomes very unfair of us, even though we know that Yorubas who reside in Igboland are all at home down there”.

The Igbo cultural festival was graced by  the representative of Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Saliu Adetunji, Aje Ogunguniso I, ably represented by Agba Akin Olubadan, Oloye Lekan Alabi, representative of GOC, 2nd Mechanise Division, Odoogbo, Ibadan, representative of Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Toye Arulogun and other dignitaries.
