The Kaduna female basketball team (GT 2000) has recruited nine new players ahead of their female league.
Head Coach of the Team, Shim-Shim Morrison disclosed this on Monday in Kaduna.
Morrison said the nine players were drawn from different clubs to add up to the old player’s.
He added that so far the players have linked up with the team at their training base at the Murtala square.
He said the moved was aimed to beef up the squad as they look forward to play in the premier league next season.
“We began training last seven days ahead of our female league and the players have shown passion and will to learn.
“All we are doing is to ensure that they get well ahead of the season and finished with a comfortable position so as to feature in the premier league next year.
He added that the league will be divided into four phases where 18 teams will be playing in the premier league next year, 18 in the second phase, 12 teams in the third phase and 18 teams. In the fourth phase.
“Only 12 teams will be qualified for the female premier league which will begin next year and last 12 will be playing division one qualifier.
He said the team will work hard to finished top this season so as to play in the premier league.
“Last season we did well and finished nine position overall but this season we hope to be focused and finished top so as to play in the premier league.
“We also want to play in continental and reach the final eight.
The head coach appreciated the state government for support given to them as they are already in camp ahead of league.
