Management of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, LAUTECH, Teaching Hospital, Ogbomoso, has sent  packing no fewer than 255 of its workforce in a major restructuring in the hospital.

New Nigerian gathered that in the major restructuring as contained in an internal memo of the Institution, 299 others were listed for redeployment  to the state service.

The Internal memorandum signed by one A.M Ajiferuke, dated 27th December, 2017, reads: “kindly find below the list of disengaged staff as directed by the Oyo State Government and approved by the board at her meeting held on Thursday, 21st December, 2017.”

Reacting to the sack and redeployment of over 500 workers the Chairman Association of Resident Doctors (ARS) LAUTECH branch, Dr Sebastine Owoi described it as “illegal transfer by the Oyo state government”,

Dr. Sebastine Owoi declared that the structure of the training of resident doctors does not give room for their transfer and  that the latest anomaly will be resisted within all legal ambits.

“Resident doctors cannot  be transferred according to the structure of their training. If the hospital is not accredited for their training then they are allowed to go out as supernumerary in accredited institutions. But this is not what Oyo State government has done. Resident doctors are not medical officers that can be transferred. The battle has just begun. This anomaly will be resisted within all legal ambits.”
