Lalong calls for peace building in other trouble zones
By; Buhari B Bello, Jos.
Plateau State Governor, Simon Bako Lalong has advocated for the extension of peace building initiative in Jos to all parts of the state in order to avoid a repeat of the past crises witnessed by the state.
He stated this during a reception held in honor of a delegation from the Centre for Humanitarian Dialogue led by it Executive Director, Dr. David Hyland in Government House.
Governor Lalong who welcome the delegation in the state noted that effort of the Centre toward arresting the circles of violence in the trouble state is remarkable.
“I know that you are coming to Jos for the first time, but the Centre for Humanitarian Dialogue is not here for the first time.  It has been with us for a long time especially in the Northern zone and our appeal is that you also go to the Southern as well as Central zone in the State”, he appealed.
Lalong also used the opportunity to commend lawmakers at the state House of Assembly for what he called speedy passage of the bill for the Creation of Bureau for Peace and Conflict Resolution and called on them to encourage the Centre when established.
He said the bill is the first of its kind in the country and assured that the state government will seek the support services as well as funding because “we don’t have the capacity to do everything”.
Earlier, the Director of the Centre assured that they will extend their services to all parts of the state when they receive the government approval to do so.
