The 2018 Annual General meeting of the Lagos Junior League was held on Thursday with the chairman of the board, Hon.Kamal Bayewu appealing to corporate organisations to partner with the league to develop grassroots football in the state.
According to him, the League which was incorporated in 2010 with with a share capital of N1,000 000 which was later increased to N 3.000 000 in 2017, has established it’s presence in all the 57 Local Government and Local Council Development Areas of the state but needs more funding for it to survive and declare dividends at the end of every year.
“I’m happy with the successes we’ve recorded since the League was incorporated in 2010. We’ ve been consistent in organising matches in all the Local Government Areas of the state but we’re appealing to all the Local Governments and corporate organisations to compliment the good work we are doing through adequate funding of the League”, he stressed.
Executive Secretary of the League and former National team handler, Tunde Dish ( OFR) expressed hope that the League which is now a house hold name in the state will continue to develop and discover talents .
Chairman of Lagos State Sports Commission, Kweku Tandor noted that it is the dream of the state government to discover and nurture talents through the League with an assurance that all necessary support would be given to the board to enable it succeed even as he charged other states to emulate Lagos and develop their junior league.
External Auditors , B.A Professionals (Chartered Accountants) in it”s statement at the AGM, affirmed that the 2017 financial records and book of accounts of the League were in line with provisions of the Allied and Company Matters Act.
Shareholders at the AGM, re- elected three Directors who have retired but represented themselves for re- appointment while the external auditors were also re- appointed for another year.
