The Commissioner of Police Lagos Command, Edgal Imohimi has been honoured with an award of excellence by the Ikeja Branch of the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA).
The award, according to the vice chairman of the association Mrs. Caroline Ibharuneafe was is recognition of Edgal’s commitment to the protection of human rights.
Speaking at the presentation ceremony, which took place at the command’s headquarter Wednesday, Ibharuneafe who is also the chairperson of the award committee described Edgal as an ardent protector of human rights in the country.
In his response, Edgal attributed the achievement of the command on human rights issue to the cordial working relationship with members of the Bar and the Bench.
This was contained in a statement by the command’s image maker SP.Chike OTI, made available to journalists in Lagos.
It reads, “The Nigeria Bar Association Ikeja Branch, this day the 16th of May, 2018, presented the CP Lagos with an Award of Excellence by its Human Rights Committee chaired by Mrs Caroline Ibharuneafe.
During the presentation, the Chairman of the committee, who is also the Vice Chairman NBA Ikeja branch, extolled the Command as an ardent protector of human rights in the country.
In his response the Command CP, Imohimi Edgal, attributed the achievements of the Command on human rights issues to the cordial working relationship with members of the Bar and the Bench”.
While assuring that the award would spur the Command to do more in protecting the rights of citizens in the state, Edgal promised that the Command will not relent in its fight against human right abuses.
