The Igbo – Efon community in Eti- Osa Local Government Area of Lagos State has advised those illegally occupying their land to immediately meet with the family representatives to rectify their ownership of such lands or be ready to vacate the property.
It would be recalled that right to Igbo – Efon land was confirmed in a landmark judgement delivered on December, 22, 2016 by Honourable Justice K. O Alogba of the Lagos High Court in suit no LD/826_/2007.
In the judgement, Justice Alogba confirmed the family of Chief Atiku Abogun as rightful owners of Igbo – Egon land and not customary tenants of Ojomu Chieftaincy family.
Justice Alogba in his judgement held that the plan used as exhibit D6 with reference to the case between Ajetumobi against Attorney General of Lagos State was not tendered in the case and in that judgement too, the mention was ex- facie made of Igbo- Efon land.
The Honourable Judge went further to rule that the mother of the agreement marked exhibit D7 and the grandmother of the gazetted exhibit C3 which was tendered by the claimants did not confirm Ojomu Chieftaincy family as title holders of Igbo- Efon land and therefore dismissed their case.
,According to a statement issued by the community and signed by Chief Atiku Abogun ,they say the warning became necessary in order to give those involved opportunity to revalidate their ownership of the land, warning that failure to do so could lead to the community taking back their land through lawful means.
” As law abiding citizens, since our victory at the High Court, we have been appealing to those who bought our lands from fraudulent land speculators to come and meet with representatives of the community but they are not forthcoming which necessitated this warning.
“We’re ready to use all legal means to implement the judgement and take back what rightly belong to us and there is no going back on this”, They concluded.
