What seems to be a sign of earthquake that shook the land of Jaba on Sunday the 11th and Monday the 12th of September, 2016 may not be a sign of earthquake but a mere tremor.
This was disclosed by Dr Mandi a lecturer in the Department of Environmental Studies, Kaduna State University, Kaduna.
The Don said the tremor is as a result of the earth movement on its orbit resulting in the shaking of the earth core which usually produces some vibrations on the earth surface from time to time.
The core, accordingly is liquid in nature and could be heated by the constant rotation of the earth which eventually emits some vibrative reactions that may or may not lead to earthquake.
He called for calm as normalcy will return to the area in no distant time.
Jaba, the home of NOK Terracotta has since on Sunday morning been hit by excessive earth vibrations that have thrown the community into commotion.
From Samban Gida, Kyan, Sabchem, Subzuro to Nok Village, there have been restlessness since the early hours of Sunday to the wee hours of Monday following this strange and strong earth shaking that has hit the area at different intervals and still uncertain of when it will stop.
The latest vibration took place at about 7pm Monday.
Earlier, the Kaduna State Government had on Sunday
appealed for calm, and sympathised with the residents.
The government said in a statement signed by Samuel
Aruwan, Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to Governor
Nasir El-Rufai, that it had made a formal report to the appropriate authorities to investigate the development.
The Governor had also directed the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) to mobilise to the area and comfort the citizens.
He also invited the National Geological Agency to
investigate the tremor in the Kwoi area and provide appropriate guidance.
The Kaduna State Government is receiving updates from the area and relevant government agencies have been directed to take steps to comfort the residents and to assuage their unease as they come to terms with an unusual event.
