Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and presidential aspirant under the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) on Wednesday stormed Minna, the Niger State capital to sell his bid to clinch the party’ delegates’ support ahead of next month primary election of the party.
A mammoth crowd of supporters, bearing his trade mark of branded red caps, dotted the skyline amidst drumming and songs by praise singers.
Kwankwaso told his supporters who thronged the Peoples Democratic Party state secretariat along the Eastern bypass in Minna to receive him, that his greatest political mistake in 2015 was aligning himself with the All Progressive Congress as a political party and supporting Muhammadu Buhari’s bid to become a president.
“I regretted supporting the change that brought President Muhammadu Buhari led All Progressive Congress, (APC) government in 2015” he said amidst shouts from his supporters of “Kwankwasiya”.

He said the APC led central government has not only set Nigeria decades backward through sluggish, inept, indecision, policy summersaults and procrastination, but has increased poverty, caused killings and insecurity, loss of jobs and general non-performance in the economy of Nigeria.
Senator Kwankwaso said the governing All Progressive Congress has since coming to power in 2015 only thrives on blame games and attributes its inefficiencies and maladministration to implausable excuses.

Kwankwaso’ s words; “Following and supporting President Buhari when we went all out to campaign and ensured he won the 2015 election, has been my greatest mistake and that of others who followed us ”. He said, the anticipated change by the wobbling APC has only brought about pains, miseries, penury, hunger and and adversities to the generality of Nigerians.

And while addressing Niger state PDP delegates ahead of the party’s primaries, he enlisted their support and understanding to give him their mandates to bring PDP back to power.

While pleading for pardon and understanding from members and delegates of the party, he explained that  “we sought for change in 2015 and along the line, i realised that the change mantra was not honest. It was not bringing anything good as we had envisaged but instead Nigerians were taken for granted, pushed to abyss and are still being pauperised by ill prepared governing All Progressive Congress led government. “Truly, we regret identifying ourselves with the APC in the first place”.

Kwankwaso, a former governor of Kano state and Minister of Defense, said after realising his grave mistake, he took the bold step to quit the APC. “I will not support or remain in that type of change, that is why i am back to the PDP to change the change that has brought untold hardship on Nigerians” he said.

He said he remains the best person for the job amongst other aspirants jostling for the sole ticket of the PDP for the 2019 Presidential primary election.
Kwankwaso however kicked against the idea of having a consensus candidate bin arriving at who flies the party’s flag just as he stressed that going into the primary election was the only acceptable option and that whoever emerges victorious after the primaries, would get maximum support of all those who contested the primary election.

“Count me out of any arrangements outside the primaries for all contestants to test their popularity and acceptability among the delegates” Kwakwanso insisted.
He urged Nigerians to embrace and open their doors wide for his brand of political credo of  ‘Kwankwasiya” which implies politics for growth and development.
