KRPC aids HIV positive youth with medication

Kaduna Refining and Petrochemical Company (KRPC) said it has been helping some HIV positive youths in its skills and empowerment trainning programme with access to anti-retrovirial medication while on the programme.
The Executive Director Services (EDS) Abdulahi Idris disclosed this Thursday in Kaduna at the graduation ceremony of 120 youths trained on various skills.
The EDS said the NNPC medical department handles this as an important part of the programme and exercised discretion in handling the medical records of trainees.
Idris stressed that this becomes a priority, to determine those that need special care or attention due to pre-existing ailments and those that need help through counselling or access to medication.
The graduands were also trained on life skills such as basic book-keeping, vocational counselling, entreprenuership, self-help, small scale business management, basic principles of banking and finance, motivational talks, health safety and enviroenmental management in addition to their chosen field of skill acquition or entrepreuneuship.
Earlier in his address, the Managing Director of KRPC, Alhaji Idi Muhktar Maiha said the programme is” a testimony to the care, commitment and concern of KRPC towards youth empowerment through vocational skills acquisition, job creation and poverty reduction.”
He stressed that the company’s approach to youth empowerment view it as an attitudinal, structural and cultural process where young people gain the ability, capability, attitudinal and moral courage to make decision that bring change in their own lives and the lives of others.
He applauded all who have supported the company to make success of the programme over the years.
The 120 graduands were awarded certificates and several of their works were on exhibition.
