Kogi win maiden Kaduna Beach Soccer Championship ….dedicate trophy to Gov Bello

Kogi Confluence Beach Soccer team have emerged champions of the maiden edition of the Kaduna Beach Soccer Competition tagged ‘Kada Trophy 2016’ which ended on Sunday evening at the Murtala Mohammed Square, Kaduna.
In the last match of the round-robin fixture, they beat Anambra Beach Soccer team 11-8 to top all the teams.
 
Kada Stars finished second on the table, after beating another Kaduna team Highlanders Beach Soccer team 14-8 in a match played earlier on Sunday. Anambra placed third.
 
In an interview after the game, captain of Kogi, Tale Victor said they were happy that they emerged champions.
 
He said that though from the beginning of the three-day tournament, they were optimistic they would win and exhibited confidence all through their matches.
 
Victor attributed their success to team work and dedication, while dedicating the trophy to their Governor Yahaya Bello and the state’s Sports Commissioner, Comrade Arome Adoji.
 
On their future plans, he said that when they go back to Kogi, they would commence plans of staging a competition for teams within the state to attract all the local government areas in a drive to discover more talents that would make them dominate the sport for a long time.
 
When asked if the fact that the national Beach Soccer coach is from their state in any way contribute to their success, he replied that though it’s a great opportunity to have the national coach from their state, it attracts mixed blessings.
