The Kano State Government has declared  Friday 11th May as public holiday in  honour of Islamic scholar, late Sheikh Khalipa Isyaku Rabi’u who died on Tuesday at a London hospital after an illness.

In a statement from the state’s information commissioner, Comrade Muhammad Garba, the public holiday was declared in order to allow Muslim Umma to attend the late scholar’s funeral whose corpse is expected to land in Kano today (Thursday), while the funeral is scheduled to hold on Friday after Juma’at prayers at Sheikh Isyaku Rabi’u Juma’at Mosque.

Since the news of the scholar’s death broke, many prominent people have been started expressing their condolences to the family, Kano State Government and the people of Kano State over the death of  the late Khalipha.
