Determined to improve the economic relationship between Tohoua in Niger Republic, Kebbi State Government has said that it would soon establish a Border Economic Corridor office in the state.
Speaking on Wednesday at the closing ceremony of a 3-day Capacity Building Training of Technical Unit of Tohoua-Sokoto-Kebbi-Zamfara Economic Corridor held at the cabinet office in Birnin Kebbi, Secretary to Kebbi state governemt, SSG, Baballe Umar Yauri also said this is the second Bilateral training after the one that was held in Sokoto and the essence of doing all these was informed by the consistence problems facing the treaties of the two countries ie Nigeria and Niger Republics interns of trans-border economic businesses
He stated that the capacity training has involved all stakeholders particularly the leaders of market associations, traditional rulers, farmers and security personnel where problems facing the trans-border businesses could be discussed and resolved.
“It was for this reason that the present administration under Senator Abubakar Bagudu will establish Joint Border Economic Corridor Office in Kebbi state so that any cases and issues regarding trans-border business activities would carefully handle.”
Commissioner of Commerce, Industries and Tourism, Rakiya Tanko Ayuba called on the participants to communicate what they learnt to their relevant offices so that they would be assured that what was discussed was transmitted.
She noted that the training would be watch-dog of all problems associated with trans-border business activities between Nigeria and Niger Republic.
