Kebbi State Government on Thursday flagged -off the implementation of Home Grown Feeding Program me in Primary Schools of the state in line with Federal Government’s initiative to improve the quality of education in some selected states which Kebbi among the them.
Speaking at the flagging off ceremony held at Presidential Lodge in Birnin Kebbi, Commissioner of Education, Mohammadu Magawata Aleiro told the gathering that Bagudu’s administration embraced the programmed following the Federal government’s resolve to improve education at Primary Schools through the introduction of free feeding of Primary 1-3 pupils in all public Primary Schools of the participation states which Kebbi included.
” My Ministry has gone along way in establishing state secretariat and multi-sect oral team to monitor and supervise this program me in all the public primary schools in the 21 local government areas of the state.
“The team consist of representatives from ministries of education, Agriculture, Health, Budget and Economic Planing, Information, Women Affairs, Commerce and NOA.”
“According to Aleiro memorandum of Understanding was since signed between Kebbi state government and National Social Investment Office, Abuja for smooth take off of the Free Feeding Program me in Kebbi state.
He noted that the Program me is going to be funded by the Federal Government at the rate of 70 naira per meal, per day, per pupil and vendors wil be paid direct to their individual account on monthly basis.
Also speaking, a food vendor, Malam Umar Birnin Kebbi who was already engaged in supplying tomatoes expressed his appreciation to the government for the measures it takes inters of payment.
