Kebbi CJ frees 18 inmates, bails out 19

The Chief Judge of Kebbi State, Justice Bala Ibrahim Mairiga at had released eighteen prison inmates serving various jail terms in Birnin Kebbi old Prison and granted bail to nineteen others who were jailed on fine charges.
Mairiga told Journalists that the exercise was part of prerogative of mercy under his capacity as Chief Judge of the state and would be extended to other Prisons across the state.
He said the judiciary in the state will continue to be just and fair to all.
Earlier, the Controller of Prison in the state Alhaji Yazid Bala Alhassan commended the efforts of the Chief Judge for his frequent gesture to Prisons which according to him assisted the service in the state.
One of the freed inmates, Musa Chika told New Nigerian that he will turn a new leaf by contributing his own quota to maintaining peace and development in the state.
