KBSG vowed to tackle polythene bags menace

Kebbi State Government has expressed it readiness to control the spread of polythene bags and reduced its menace of pollution to the environment, Commissioner of Environment, Alhaji Gado  Suleiman Marafa has disclosed.
He made the disclosure in his office in Birnin Kebbi while speaking to New Nigerian on-line in an interview.
He said very soon, government would employ the services of youths who would be engaged on the vigorous collections of dumped bags for re-cycling at various centers established in all the local government areas across the state.
Marafa who explained that the move was aimed at ensuring clean environment, further stated that the intention of the state government is to collaborate with the TILAS polythene bags factory in Birnin Kebbi to make the programme a success.
He appealed to people of Kebbi state to imbibe the habit of planting trees in both their homes and business environment as a means of preserving, protecting and securing the environment.
He noted that the tree planting campaign which had been abandoned several years ago would soon be revived as all arrangements for its flagg- off have been concluded.
