The Kano State chapter of Rice Farmers Association of Nigeria (RIFAN) promotes self-reliance through rice production at both dry and rainy seasons since the inception of the association accross the state.
This was disclosed by the state executive officers of the association in an interview with our correspondent, adding that RIFAN has all the necessary provisions that supports rice production through various means of assisting Kano rice farmers.
In his remarks, the state chairman, Alhaji Abubakar Haruna Aliyu (ABH) described RIFAN as an avenue of assisting rice farmers to boost their production and create more employment oppotunities for the people of all categories.
He said that the association has achieved a lot since it’s inception, especially in uniting the rice farmers and putting them in the right farming direction in order to benefit more for being under one strong body by working with one voice as seen at present.
ABH added that RIFAN is an association that has broughta lot of progress to the rice producers accross Kano State and every farmer would continue to get more support and encouragement in order to boost rice production as contained in the association’s constitution.
Commenting on the ongoing farmers registration, the chairman urged Kano rice farmers who have not registered with RIFAN to try and contact their ward or local government executives for more details and other relevant information concerning the current activities of the association.
The state secretary, Alhaji Ado Hassan Yakasai stressed that they have tried their best by mobilizing members from the 44 local government areas of Kano State in order to work together as one family and to have a strong medium that works for the progress of rice farmers at both dry and wet seasons.
He then lamented that every RIFAN farmer is entittled to enjoy all relevant assistance because the association was established for the general progress of rice farmers and assured that in the near future, rice farmers would see what the association will provide for more profitable production without losses.
Furthermore, the treasurer of the association, Alhaji Hussaini Shu’aibu Muhammad disclosed that Kano RIFAN has successfully brought unity and progress in rice value chain programme especially at present when all hands are on deck to boost production and self-reliance as seen today in Kano and the nation at large.
He also called on the rice farmers to register with RIFAN in order to benefit from all it’s provisions and to know more about rice production, where he hoped that rice farmers would become more developed and pleasant at both dry and rainy seasons.
In conclussion, Kano RIFAN commended the federal government, Bank of Agriculture (BOA) and the Kano State Government for the support they usually render to the rice farmers, and advised the farmers to register with the association for better production.
