Kano Female Farmers Contributing To National Food Security – Rice Farmers Association

The Kano  State women leader, Rice  Farmers  Association  of Nigeria (RIFAN)   Hajiya Altine Idris has said that women farmers in Kano  are playing an important role in food production that is enhancing national food security at both dry and rainfed seasons.

She disclosed this in chat with our correspondent, saying that  women farmers in kano state are now recognised and respected by all categories of Nigerian farmers because of their untiring efforts  on cash and food crops production  which is an importany and reliable occupation as seen on ground.

She also stated that they have a large number of active  women farmers in Kano  State  under one ans united aasociation where  all the teaming members are working seriously in order to boost their economy and food peosuction  that is why the state is gradualy moving forward in the area of agriculture.

Hajiya Altine announced that rice growing is now increasing and  RIFAN  is trying their best to see that more  support   is given to  women rice farmers in Kano  State   to mobilise more women into farming occupation which is the main objective of establishing the association.

Commenting on joining farming occupation, the RIFAN women leader said that “Farming is an occupation that opens more doors of opportunities  for self-reliance and economic progress to farmers at all category or crop value-chain”

In addition, Hajiya Altine Idris thanked the  Kano RIFAN executives  for encouraging women gender who are deeply into farming occupation, and called on the governments to bring out some farming strategies that  would add more encouragement to kano women at both urban and rural areas.
