Kaduna – Plateau make progress on boundary dispute

Plateau and Kaduna States has made serious progress aimed at  ending  the lingering boundary disputes that has claimed several lives before now from sides.
The meeting which held at the instance of the National Boundary Commission took place in the government House Rayfield, Jos, Plateau State
Kaduna State was represented at the meeting by the State Deputy Governor, Banabas Bala Bantex while the permanent Secretary, Deputy Governor’s office, Sir Emma Gogwin represented Plateau State.
Speaking shortly before the meeting, Plateau State Deputy governor, Professor Sony Tyoden described the two states as brothers and regretted the destruction to lives as well as property due to series of crisis at the boundary.
He said the state will fully implement decisions reached at the meeting and call for positive contribution.
Plateau State representative explained that insecurity around Riyom Local Government bordering Kaduna has remained a source of killings in the area.
In a remark, Bantex assured Plateau State of their commitment in resolving the long dispute, stating that “it is the responsibilities of the two states to resolve things amicably”. He appealed for the spirit of give and take between the two states.
In an address, Director General of the National Boundary Commission, Dr Muhammed Ahmed hinted that 86 per cent of the issues has been resolved with only 18 per cent yet to be determined.
The meeting which attracted some local government Chairmen, Traditional leaders and some critical stake holders from the two states produced some recommendations.
