Kaduna Govt Presents Draft Budget Of N155.2bn At Town Hall Meeting

The Kaduna State  Deputy Governor, Architect Barnabas Bala Bantex  on Sunday presented the  2019 draft budget estimate of N155.2bn to citizens of the state for debate and input for budget of continuity in the state.

Architect Barnabas Bala Bantex, who represented the state  Governor, Malam Nasir Ahmad el-Rufai, presentex the estimate in a Town Hall Meeting at Yar’adua Hall, in Kaduna.

The Governor said they are committed towards ensuring that children in the state embark on quality education including the children of the poor to have access to education, assuring that  they would continue to invest in education as it is their first priority to educate  children in the state.

The Governor said he is going to risk his political future because of over three million children in the state who are illiterates,to have access to education.

El-Rufai said the health sector is an important issue in their agenda, that they have recruited health workers and equipped them with necessary facilities in an  effort to restore good healthcare in the state.

He further said, the state government   today is bigger in the area of  generating revenue into the state to pay salary  as at when due.

Presenting the budget, the Commissioner of Budget and Planning, Mohammed Sani Abdullahi presented 2019 draft budget of 155.2bn comprising 90.8bn capital and 64.5bn recurrent estimates.

“The budget is consistent with the agenda of Kaduna State Government to spend more on the people than spending more in running the government,” he said.

The budget gives priority to the social sector with education taking the lion share of 31.7bn while works, housing and transport take 27.8bn and health 17.6bn.

“This is the 3rd time the state government of Kaduna is giving people of the state opportunity to be part of its budget process since 2016. The 2019 Budget is to consolidate on the three years achievements of this administration,” he added.

After taking recommendations from the people, the State Executive Council will incorporate those projects that reflect the yearnings and aspirations of the people before tabling the draft budget to the State House of Assembly for consideration and passage into law.

The Deputy Governor, Architect Barnabas Bala Bantex appreciated everyone present at the event.

Questions and answers were accommodated, as citizens were present to make their contributions.
